PANDORA'S BATTERY ================= A universal PSP unbricker/downgrader by the Prometheus project, also known as Team C+D. REQUIREMENTS - A spare PSP Battery. Any make will do. Using a spare is best, as it ♥ will not be possible to boot the PSP in its normal state with the ♥ modified battery. - A spare Memory Stick Pro Duo of less than 4Gb. (256Mb should be ♥ enough for all applications). - A PSP with a Custom Firmware such as OE, M33 or WC, or a PSP with ♥ the 1.5 original kernel. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE - Connect the PSP to the PC with the Memory Stick inside via the USB ♥ Connection. - Format the Memory Stick using any utility. - Use mspformat to format the Memory Stick logically. - Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection. - Connect the Memory Stick again via the USB connection of the PSP. - Manually create the PSP/GAME (optionally PSP/GAME150) folders on the ♥ Memory Stick. - Copy the "battery" and "installer" programs to the PSP/GAME ♥ (optionally PSP/GAME150) folder. - Copy the 1.50 official updater as UPDATE.PBP to the root of the ♥ Memory Stick. - Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection. - Run "installer" through the firmware on the PSP. This application ♥ will create the firmware files on the root of the Memory Stick, as ♥ well as msipl.bin. - Connect the Memory Stick again via the USB connection of the PSP. - Execute "msipl" application on the PC with the msipl.bin to write ♥ the IPL to memory stick. - Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection. - Execute "battery" application on the PSP to modify the battery. - Congratulation, you are now in posession of a "Magic Memory Stick" ♥ and a "JigKick Battery". USAGE - Insert Memory Stick into the PSP - Remove power cord and insert the JigKick Battery into the PSP. - A menu appears when the PSP boots. Follow the onscreen information ♥ and instructions. NOTES AND RESTRICTIONS - The firmware in the Memory Stick is not a full 1.50, but a minimal ♥ subset. Therefore, not all applications (such as flashers, or ♥ recovery apps) will load. - Only Memory Stick Pro Duo are compatible. Memory Stick Duo ♥ (e.g. 32MB sticks) are not supported. - The IDStorage cannot be totally restored, as there is no known way ♥ to regenerate it properly. - It is strongly RECOMMENDED to make a flash dump of the PSP before ♥ any downgrading operation. - There might be a BSOD at the end of the downgrade. This is normal, ♥ and happens on the standard downgraders. - All hardware revisions known at this day are supported. - This release contains no Sony-copyrighted material.♥ All required ♥ Sony data is generated from the v1.50 update files. CREDITS - Please do not edit or remove these credits... - All work done by the Prometheus team aka Team C+D: ♥ Adrahil (VoidPointer) ♥ Booster ♥ Cswindle (Caretaker) ♥ Dark_AleX (Malyot) ♥ Ditlew ♥ Fanjita (FullerMonty) ♥ Joek2100 (CosmicOverSoul) ♥ Jim ♥ Mathieulh (WiseFellow) ♥ Nem (h1ckeyph0rce) ♥ Psp250 ♥ Skylark ♥ TyRaNiD (bockscar) - With thanks to everyone who has contributed to the PSPSDK, without which ♥ nothing would have been possible.

Unbrick or Downgrade any PSP using Pandora's Battery Guide
Requirements Software Requirements ♥ 1. Pandora's Battery Files ♥ 2. 1.50 Sony Update ♥ 3. WinRAR or 7-Zip Hardware Requirements ♥ 1. Two separate PSP's: ♥ 2. A PSP you want reflashed ♥ 3. A non-bricked PSP to prepare the files on. This PSP must also be capable of running 1.50 homebrew. In theory, this could be done with one PSP. However, this PSP would need to be non-bricked, and capable of running homebrew. It would be much more efficient to use a homebrew flasher in that case. Therefore, the Pandora Battery should only be used to downgrade PSP's or un-brick PSP's. ♥ 4. A spare battery, of any make. After this process is complete, the PSP will not boot into its normal state with this battery ♥ 5. A spare Memory Stick Pro Duo, at least 256MB, less than 4GB. The Memory Stick Duo will not work, it must be a Memory Stick Pro Duo Preparations Memory Stick Preparations ♥ 1. Using a USB cable, connect your PSP to your PC. ♥ 2. Backup all data on the Memory Stick. ♥ 3. Using any utility, format the Memory Stick. ♥ 4. Using WinRAR, open up the pandora.zip file you downloaded (if you haven't already, it's in the Requirements section) ♥ 5. Double click on the msformat folder, and run msformat.exe ♥ 6. Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection ♥ 7. Put the Memory Stick back into your PSP, and re-enable the USB connection. ♥ 8. Create a folder called PSP in the root of your memory stick (X:\PSP, where X is your PSP's drive letter) ♥ 9. Create a GAME folder inside the PSP folder on your memory stick (X:\PSP\GAME) ♥ 10. From the pandora.zip file, copy the contents of the battery folder and the installer folder to the GAME directory you just created (X:\PSP\GAME) ♥ 11. Rename the 1.50 Sony Update you downloaded to UPDATE.PBP ♥ 12. Copy the UPDATE.PBP file to the root of your memory stick (X:\UPDATE.PBP) ♥ 13. Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection ♥ 14. Put the Memory Stick back into the PSP ♥ 15. Run installer on the PSP. This will create the files needed to reflash your PSP. ♥ 16. Connect the PSP to your PC via a USB cable. ♥ 17. In the pandora.zip file, double click the msinst folder, and run msinst.exe. ♥ 18. Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection Battery Preparation ♥ 1. Make sure you have completed the "Memory Stick Preparation" first. ♥ 2. Plug the Memory Stick back in. ♥ 3. Run the battery program on the PSP. This prepares the battery. You will not be able to use it normally from no on. ♥ 4. You now have a "Magic Memory Stick" and a "JigKick Battery". Proceed to the next section to reflash your PSP. Reflash your PSP ♥ 1. Remove the UMD, Battery, Memory Stick, and Power Cable from the bricked PSP. ♥ 2. Insert the Memory Stick ("Magic Memory Stick") you prepared beforehand into the bricked PSP. ♥ 3. Insert the battery ("JigKick Battery") you prepared beforehand into the PSP. ♥ 4. Boot the PSP. A menu will appear. Follow the onscreen instructions to reflash your PSP. ♥ 5. When the flashing process is complete, restart your PSP. ♥ 6. If all goes well, a blue screen will appear, telling you that your settings are corrupt, and to press circle to repair them. Do so now, rebooting your PSP if necessary. ♥ 7. You should now have a 1.50 PSP

FAQ
Can this downgrade any PSP? ♥ ♥ EDIT: Yes, you can unbrick any PSP. this can also be used as a downgrader on a non-bricked PSP. Do third party batteries work? ♥ ♥ Yes, according to Fanjita, he uses a Datel brand battery. Can I restore my battery back to its normal state after this process? ♥ ♥ No. That is why you need a spare battery. Freeplay has found some very cheap batteries here. Get them while they're still cheap I know the battery can't be restored, but can the Memory Stick be reformatted and reused? ♥ ♥ As far as I know, yes. However, the you will need to redo all of the steps in the "Preparations" section related to the memory stick. Does this work on TA-082 motherboards? ♥ ♥ At the moment, I'm not sure. But feel free to try it, what's the worst that could happen? You brick your already bricked PSP? download link RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

Pandora Battery enables PSP service mode, which allows up- and downgrading, unbricking, firmware flashing etc.
There's two ways to make it, and if you use the software method and didn't backup the serial first... well then head to the Sony Store you need a new battery! If you made the battery by clipping the wire (like I did) you need some extreme soldering skills, or if you just moved it you can move it back. Once you're on CFW you can boot off a pandora (normal PSP cannot even charge a pandora) and the Despertar Del Cementerio software can also reinstall the original Firmware, as you need it (for ex. 330.pbp you will have on there allows OFW and CFW). Did that answer the q? |
