How to install 3.40 OE-A on a 1.50 or OE PSP
3.40 OE-A is the latest in custom firmware for the PSP, and includes the ability to customize XMB icons (although this is still in an early phase)
If you're installing this update from a previous OE firmware, make sure to set your game folder homebrew to use the 1.50 kernel in the recovery menu before running this update, or it won't install- Download and unzip 3.40 OE-A (complete Jak_Master upload).
- Copy the PSP folder in the zip file you just downloaded to your memory stick. If you already have a PSP folder on your memory stick, either delete or rename the existing folder on your memory stick.
- On your PSP, run the 3.40 OE-A Update Maker program. This program will create a file called DATA.DXAR
- On your memory stick, go to the PSP/GAME folder. Move the DATA.DXAR file from the oeupdmaker folder to the 340oeflasher folder
- On your PSP, run the 3.40 OE-A Firmware Install program. Your battery must be 75% full
- The program will display an agreement. Press X to accept. This will upgrade your PSP to firmware 3.40 OE-A. While updating, make sure that the memory stick is not removed from your PSP and that the power to your PSP is not interrupted
- Once finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually to 3.40 OE-A. You should then restore your default settings from the system settings menu
How to install 3.03 OE-C on a 1.50 or 3.03 OE PSP
NOTE: It is recommended you install 3.30 OE-A instead of this firmware. Although this firmware allows customization of XMB icons, it is obsolete, and as a result, is less supported.
- Download and decompress 3.03 OE-C (Complete) (Jak_Master version)
- Copy the PSP folder in the zip file you just downloaded to your memory stick. If you already have a PSP folder on your memory stick, either delete or rename the existing folder on your memory stick.
- On your PSP, run the 3.03 OE-C Update Maker program. This program will create a file called DATA.DXAR
- On your memory stick, go to the PSP/GAME folder. Move the DATA.DXAR file from the oeupdmaker folder to the 303oeflasher folder
- On your PSP, run the 3.03 OE-C Firmware Install program. Your battery must be 75% full
- The program will display an agreement. Press X to accept. This will upgrade your PSP to firmware 3.03 OE-C. While updating, make sure that the memory stick is not removed from your PSP and that the power to your PSP is not interrupted
- Once finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually to 3.03 OE-C. You should then restore your default settings from the system settings menu
How to run Homebrew and Games on Custom Firmware
To run homebrew and games on your PSP, you need to make sure the files are in the right place. Keep in mind that I created this section of the guide to help new users learn how to run any of their games or homebrew on 3.30 OE. This is NOT meant to encourage piracy; I neither support nor condone piracy. It is against the rules of this board, the law, and the wishes of the homebrew community for you to run illegal copies of games.
To run homebrew, place the homebrew in the PSP/GAME150 folder on your PSP. If the homebrew you're installing came with a second folder with a percent sign in it's name, you also need to place that folder in PSP/GAME150
To run official PS1 games using Sony's PS1 engine, place the games in the PSP/GAME folder on your PSP
How to download homebrew for Custom Firmware using the Installotron program
Installotron is by far the easiest, safest, most direct way to download homebrew on to your PSP. It allows you to download and install homebrew directly to your PSP from an online database; no computer required. The version included in this thread features custom graphics, and settings pre-configured to work with 3.03 OE.
- Download and decompress Installotron (Jak_Master version)
- Copy the Installotron folder to PSP/GAME
- Restart your PSP in recovery mode, then go to Configuration. Change the Game folder homebrew to use the 1.50 kernel, then exit the recovery menu.
- Launch the Install-o-tron program. If it has difficulty reading your network configuration, create a new one.
- Download as much homebrew as you want from the database. Your homebrew will be installed in PSP/GAME
Questions
Q: After I updated, I keep getting a blue error screen whenever I try to use certain features. How do I fix this?
A: Go to the Settings menu on your PSP. Choose system settings, and restore your default settings.
Q: I have 3.03 or below. How do I downgrade to 1.50 so I can use this firmware?
A: Use the following guide:
~ Universal PSP Downgrading Guide (Ver. 3.03 and below) ~
Q: How do I downgrade back to 1.50 from 3.10 OE?
A: Use the following procedure:
Download and decompress the RECOVERY folder
Download and unzip the 1.50 Upgrade Eboot, name it UPDATE, and put it in the RECOVERY folder
Copy the RECOVERY folder you just downloaded to /PSP/GAME/ on your memory stick
Start your PSP in Recovery Mode, then choose Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP. This will flash the 1.50 EBOOT to your PSP. Don't shutdown the PSP or remove the memory stick until the update is finished.

Q: What is the best way I can get help on this firmware or on the recovery folder if I need it?
A: The absolute best way would be to ask for it in this thread. However, if that doesn't work, you can always PM me.
