whats this signing means actually!?
hello friends,
well i don knw much about symbian application programming and so what does the signing of sis apps means..? is it the validity of the app (say 2 or 3 yrs)?? Thanx in advance..

well im not an expert but as ive been told signing must be done to all unsingned apps in order for them to work...you need to be a V.I.P. or a Moderator in order to get apps signed...

More Detailed Explanation:
Since there are in numerous virus, spywares etc created for the mobile device there rised a risk of getting infected with them..The previous platform (S60V2) has been infected by such viruses..The viruses are generally are on the name of the applications so you unknowingly install them and gets infected..Looking at this Nokia developed a platform called as S60V3...This platform doesnt allow anything to be installed on the device untill the application passes a valid security test...That means the developer of the application has to merge a security certificate that the applications is a real application and wont damage the phone..But now many applications betas are releasing so they dont garauntee that app will not harm or damage your device[+ it costs more and if they make even beta signed they will become bankrupt...Lol] so they release this softwares without a certificate...For the people who trust that their device wont be get damaged with the softwares they want to install them..But S60V3 platform need certificate..So there is a site name symbian signed..They use to give cert for free which can sign any application for only ONE phone but now they dont...Anyways if we say in simple signing means addition of security cert to the application so it can be installed on your phone Hope you understood....

HI people.... can somebody please help me out here... i just installed the Mobile Sign application on my N95. Now, i cannot figure out what is a Key File & a Cert File... i would really appreciate it if somebody cold guide me on how to obtain the 2 file.
