Question FAQ ( Frequently Asked Questions )

Q: I can’t log into my account, what am I to do?
A: Well, either one of two things have happened. You have simply typed in the wrong password or forgotten it. Use the password recovery option. If your password does not come in your email within 24 hours, the account is either gone or someone else is now in control of it. DO NOT give out your password to anyone for any reason.

Q: How To Unlock Password-protected Memory Card ?
A: For S60 1st and 2nd Phones

What should we do if we forget the password? For S60 1st and some of 2nd phones, such as Nokia 3650, Nokia 6600 and Nokia N-Gage, the password is stored in a plain text file.

1) You need to install FExplorer, a free file manager that allows us to browser through S60 file system.

2) Launch FExplorer and then browser to c:\system folder. There is a file, called mmcstore.

3) Rename the file to mmcstore.txt and then open it. Your password must be several characters at the end of the file.

For S60 3rd Phones, Nokia N-Series and Nokia E-Series

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover the password in the latest S60 phones. The only way that I know so far is by reformatting the memory card. It can be done from Memory Card application by selecting Options Format memory card menu .

Q: Changing Fonts On S60 Phones !
A: Yes you read the subject correctly! And its very easy too! Before I start with the tutorial, take a look at the pics below, those are the ones I tried on my phone (6600 firmware v5).

Modern Font

(IMG:http://img68.exs.cx/img68/6797/tahoma33ei.jpg)
Tahoma

Also prior to installing this fonts, I suggest you install FExplorer on your phone. Ok so here goes...

Step 1. Download the fonts HERE.

Step 2. In the Zip file you will see
+ FontRemover.sis
+ tahoma.sis
+ modern.sis
+ set3v3.sis
+ mssans.sis
+ symbol.gdr
+ comic.gdr

Step 3. Then send the FontRemover.sis to your phone and install it. Once installed, launch the application and it should ask you if you want to delete font. Click on Yes and it should tell you to reboot your phone. Do NOT reboot first.

Step 4. Now send one of the font sis files, lets say modern.sis to your phone and install it to your C drive (your phone, NOT mmc). Once installed then reboot your phone.

Step 5. When it starts, you should see the default fonts replaced by the ones you have just installed.

Now I cant stress this more but you need to understand that you can only use ONE FONT at one time. If you want to use another font, you will have to go back to step 3 & 4.

As for the .gdr files, you will need to do it this way.

Step 1. Use FontRemover to remove the fonts.

Step 2. Open FExplorer and goto C:\system and create a "fonts" folder as shown below.

(IMG:http://img30.exs.cx/img30/9496/fonts1rm.jpg)

Step 3. Send the .gdr file to your phone. Do not open it as it will say unknown file format.

Step 4. Find the file in your mail folders (C or E:\system\mail\00001001_S\0-9, a-f) using FExplorer.

Step 5. Copy or Cut the file and then paste it to the C:\system\fonts folder.

Step 6. Exit FExplorer and then reboot you phone.

So its that simple. In my testing, I found that some fonts like tahoma & mssans does not make much different (well atleast to me) as the modern font did. Good luck!

Q: Security Certificate Error When Installing
A:If you get certificate error when attempting to install the program or themes on your S60 3rd Edition smartphone, it means that you haven enabled installation of unsigned SIS files. Go to Tools -> App. Manager, choose Options -> Settings and set Software installation to All and Online certif. check to Off.

Q: How to install apps/themes on a series 60 device, Including N Series
A:1: Transfer the .sis file to your phone via IR/BT/Cable,(or wap using the wap id).
2: Locate the .sis file using the built in "File Manager" app (in the tools menu),and install the theme to the location of your choice (mmc/phone memory).
3: You can now delete the .sis file.
4: Click on Themes in the main menu, and move left or right to select the memory location you installed the theme to,then select "apply"
